When i first looked at the painting, it reminded me of my childhood, of how i used to stress on coloring neatly. That didn't stop me from merging two beautiful colors and making them look ghastly. This painting reminded me of contrasts. It showed me how easy it was to blend red and green and blue and grey and make it look so alluring.
The unfurling orange petals in the centre expressed the five elements of nature. The rich brown Earth, perceived by all of our senses, The blue Water, which can be heard, seen, felt and tasted, The blazing red fire, which can be seen, felt and heard, The grey-ish blue Wind, which can be heard and felt, and the Spirit, which is inaccessible to all our senses except sound. The five elements embody our senses and the colors used to represent the elements embody our emotions.
Orange showed me enthusiasm and distrust, Red showed me rage and love, Blue showed me softness and seriousness, Brown showed me dirt and richness, Grey showed me dreariness and composure and Green showed me jealousy and protection.
After looking at all these contrasts and making my own interpretations, I finally looked at the name of the painting. 'October', the month of contradictions and disparity, which is sometimes associated with the season of autumn sometimes with spring, when the heat is unbearable at times and at times when you pray for the rain to stop.
The painting, with its simplicity and vibrancy, filled me with tranquility and I went home a happier child.
