Homage to Vangogh – Paritosh Sen
A brief description of the painting: The painting
shows an artist painting a portrait of a smoking, aged, pale and mysterious
man. While his face acts indifferent, the portrait shows a depressed and
unhealthy person. Rusty shades have given the painting the perfect effect!
When an artist is painting a portrait, he not only gets an
overt expression of the person that he’s painting, but he also gets a view of
all the layers underneath. What if he could paint any layer that he wants? That’s after all his take on the picture,
making it what they call an “artists impression”? An artist’s impression can be
very powerful and can speak out the truth. Even the best computer hackers
couldn't hack into a person’s mind, but a good artist can view it as though it
were the most obvious! This painting also gives us an important lesson about
life, that no matter how hard you try to hide something, that something finds
its way out inevitably. Because of this, the layers of detail are also shown in
the painting itself.
So I selected this picture because, it speaks out the most.
Also psychologically cutting up a person is very intriguing.
