Wild Geese, Mary Oliver
My interpretation
Life can never be a swan: pretty, dainty and elegant. There always exists that raging incitement full of uncertainties beholding truth of what life really is. Its like that of a wild geese "harsh and exciting". The world opens up with its wildness that radiates beauty and freedom. Its so barbaric in its attire, yet it holds its place on earth. So is life in its beautiful way, unpredictable, consisting of those moments where you freedom stands in front of you yet you cant have it because of that line society has engraved.
we are meant to be good, follow some one else's words and then it would make us part of their existence, part of this world. but i feel that Oliver is opening our minds to how should really be lived. We, should be like that 'wild geese', letting that animal within us free. Being unafraid to let ourselves be.
we must be like that of nature just as we imagine where every part, the stones the mountains the forest the meadows are so different and still have a place then why cant we. why are supposed to be that of what we are expected and not 'us'.
thus, we should be ourselves and know that we still have a place on earth.
