Treading on Train Wrecks

Treading on Train Wrecks

Miley Cyrus

While most of her fans brood over the fact that Hannah Montana grew up to become Hannah "Tramp-tana" the rest of her fans still adore her, possibly even idolize her. By saying that “I hate her for what she has become” or “I miss the old Hannah Montana” gives more reason for Miley to continue what she’s doing. But is that really wrong? If yes, then you can also blame Katy Perry, Nicky Minaj, Jennifer Lopez or Taylor Swift, right? Why not? They’ve had a lot of skin show and promiscuity in their videos and performances. But no one wants to see already spoilt little rich girls as much as spoilt, rich and all-grown-up girls.

So, Miley went nude for a few of her music videos, and suddenly she’s a magnet for haters and internet trolls. Forget the trolls, they’ll come up with an excuse like “YOLO” but the rest of us have to accept the fact that people change, and move on. So how can child actors like Miley and Daniel Radcliffe, move on, if they’re kept on being referred to as “Hannah Montana” and “Harry Potter”? They’re probably proud of their characters in the films, but that doesn't mean they idolize them! They are actors who played roles for the sake of money. For regular people like us, it’s easier to switch interests or jobs, but for celebrities it’s much more difficult than it seems. For Miley, it takes image-shedding… literally. Or she probably likes skin show a lot.
I’ve seen a lot of memes on the internet that are slut shaming, especially towards Miley. More than feeling sad about what she’s become, I’m more annoyed by the fact that so much attention is given to her performance. It’s a different story if you don’t like her for some of the terrible songs that she makes. But hating on her because of what she wears, or how she behaves is a double standard. It’s probably time the internet leaves this story and finds some other story that doesn't make us “lose faith in humanity”
