                                      LEST WE FORGET...

In the year 1999, Indian army was working under "Operation Vijay", which was against Pakistan. Our soldiers were successful in tasting the victory. But  India lost most of her brave warriors in the war.
Captain Vikram Batra is one among them.

Twin sons were born to the family of Mr. Giridhari Lal Batra and
 Ms.Jai Kamal Batra, on 9th of September,1974 at Maudi,HP.
The twins were named Vikram and Vishal.
Vikram did his schooling in Palampur district of HP. He is also a graduate from Chandigarh University, where he was adjudged the best NCC Cadet in two zones.

During his graduation, he was selected to join the Merchant Navy at a company in Hong Kong. However, he dropped the idea of joining the Merchant Navy due to his patriotic zeal to serve the nation.
He joined the Indian Military Army in 1996. Initially he was a Lieutenant but soon he rose to the rank of Captain.

During Operation Vijay,7th July,1999, Captain Batra was tasked to conquer point 4875. He and his company were suppose to clear a narrow feature with sharp cutting on either side and heavily fortified enemy defenses that covered the only approach to it, for speedy operation Captain Batra assaulted the enemy position along narrow bridge egged the enemy in a fierce hand to hand fight and killed five enemy soldiers at point. Sustaining grave injuries, he crawled towards the enemy and hurled grenades clearing the position with utter disregard to his personal safety.
The officer, succumbed to the injuries. Inspired by his daredevil act, his troop captured point 4875. Captain Vikram Batra, displayed bravery.

I strongly feel that, we must throw some light on soldiers' life too.
They gave their today for our tomorrow. We must also consider the security to the families of our soldiers. There are many Vikram Batra all round the country. It is also oue responsibility to insist people to join the Army.
